Warm up your bathroom with an infrared heat lamp

Many people love the feeling of an infrared heat lamp on their skin especially after a shower or bath.  They can keep you warm as you dry off and get dressed.  They actually consume low amounts of energy, are quite inexpensive but have the ability to heat up quickly.  You can get either a gas or electric infrared heat lamp, electric being the most popular for residential homes.

Many people wonder if there are harmful effects from an infrared heat lamp.  Generally speaking, the answer is no.  This of course depends on how long your stay under the lamp and how close you are to it.  It is recommended you spend no more than 20 minutes under the lamps and should remain at least 18 inches aware from it.  They do produce significant heat and the skin can burn if exposed for long periods of time at close range.

If you are considering installing an infrared heat lamp in your home, be sure to connect the lamp to a porcelain socket.  The proper installation for the lamp will eliminate any potential dangers.  Bulbs come in different sizes so be to get the right size for the area where you will be installing it.  If the bulb is too small, you will get limited benefit from it.
